[01] Why we exist

We got burned twice. Then we built Fullboard.

Over the last couple of years, the home-services company I run hired two marketing agencies. Both came recommended. Both were easy to deal with. That was never the problem.

The first spent about ten months rebuilding our website. It cost thousands, plus a monthly hosting fee nobody mentioned until the end, and we were told it would rank better than our old site. It ranked worse. We did not even control it: no access to our own files, locked to their hosting, our login shut off until we asked for it back.

The second ran our Google Ads for six months with the tracking broken the whole time, so almost none of our traffic was counted and we were flying blind. They posted about services we do not offer, in cities a thousand miles away, once under the wrong company's name. The fee was most of what we spent. We only saw how bad it was when we took it in-house: same market, same budget, and the booked work took off.

We never got our money back. So we built something better.

We are not naming either of them. They were not villains. The trouble is the model the whole industry runs on: a big bill, a long timeline, a stack of reports, and a contractor locked out of the thing they paid for, with no real way to check the work. Contractors get the worst of it, because most of us do not have time to look over anyone's shoulder.

So we built Fullboard to be the company we wish we had hired, and to make sure the next contractor never ends up where we did.
